The Town of Chester is located in Warren County near the southeastern corner of the Adirondack Park in New York State (map).

Students in the Town of Chester attend the North Warren Central School.

The town is made up of several hamlets, the largest two of which are Chestertown, and Pottersville. The other hamlets are:

Darrowsville
Igerna
Starbuckville
and Riparius
